John Philip Baptiste (March 14, 1926 – March 14, 2020), known as Phil Phillips, was an American singer and songwriter, best known for his 1959 song, "Sea of Love". == Biography == Baptiste was encouraged to pursue a career as a singer after a school performance of a song called "Sweet Slumber".
